In July 2004, EXITO was officially recognised
as a Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinator by the Tertiary Education
Commission [TEC].
Three Extractive
Industry qualifications have been approved to offer under the Modern
Apprenticeships strategy. These are:
National Certificate
in Extractive Industries [Operations]
- with Surface Extraction strand, Level 3
National Certificate in Extractive Industries [Operations]
- with Underground Extraction strand, Level 3
National Certificate in Extractive Industries [Mineral Processing]
- Lime Mill Processing Level 4
Five Gas Industry qualifications
have been approved to offer under the Modern Apprenticeships
strategy. These are:
Gas
Network Construction
- with strands in Polyethylene Pipelaying and Steel Pipelaying,
Level 3
Gas
Network Operations [Operations and Maintenance], Level 3
Gas Network Operations [Operations and Maintenance], Level
4
Gas Network Operations [Gas Pressure Control], Level 3
Gas Industry [Gas Transmission]
- with strands in Pipeline Operation, and Instrumentation and Electrical,
Level 4
EXITO's
FIRST Modern Apprentice in the Mining & Quarry industry.
A celebration and award evening with Ben Palmer's familiy and EXITO
representatives was hosted in Nelson on Friday 16th February 2007.
Snow Edgar is the designated EXITO Field Co-ordinator who managed
Ben's programme and supported Ben in this initiative at Wakefield
Quarry Limited based in Nelson.
Modern Apprenticeships Criteria The Modern Apprentice (MA) must:
- be
in full time employment with an employer;
- be aged between 16 and 21 (inclusive);
- not have been signed into another Industry Training Agreement,
for the same National Certificate, in the previous six months;
- not have completed 50% or more of a National Certificate (at
Level 3 or above) and be signed into a Modern Apprenticeship for
the same qualification.
