Modern Apprenticeship Outline

Individual Training Agreement - The agreement to complete a Modern Apprenticeship will be signed and dated by the employer, assigned field coordinator and the modern apprentice. This agreement is found at the beginning of the Individual Training Plan.

Modern Apprenticeship Field Coordinator - A field coordinator will be assigned to each Modern Apprenticeships partnership. This person will support the modern apprentice and the employer to complete the agreed National Certificate by:

- mentoring the modern apprentice
- assisting the modern apprentice to complete the training by assessing any further needs he/she may have and setting up an appropriate plan to meet these needs (e.g. literacy)
- supporting the employer
- meeting the modern apprentice and employer on site at least once every quarter.
- providing assistance to ensure planned targets are meet or alternative arrangements are put in place
- completing administration and liaising with EXITO to ensure the NZQA record of learning is updated to reflect the achievements of the modern apprentice.

Employment Conditions - This remains the responsibility of the employer and modern apprentice to negotiate. However, in establishing a Modern Apprenticeships arrangement, if the proposed modern apprentice is an existing employee, it would be suggested that it is fair and reasonable that the modern apprentice would not experience a decrease in their terms and conditions of employment.

Transfer of a Modern Apprenticeship Partnership - Modern Apprenticeships belong to the individual. Should employment cease with an employer before the Modern Apprenticeship is completed, with agreement, consideration for continuation with another employer can be discussed.
