Training
is mainly done on-the-job at your workplace. There may be some instances
where you are required to go off site for training e.g. for first aid
or fire training. Training
is done at your pace where you are supported and guided through the training
process by an EXITO training coordinator.
Training is carried
out by industry trainers/registered assessors that are experts in their
field. They have qualifications giving them the authority to carry out
training and assessment. You will be assessed against a Unit Standard.
Unit Standards are statements of what you are to learn and be competent
at.
During assessment you may be
observed
carrying out practical tasks,
questioned verbally, and/or
be required to complete written assignments or test papers. When
you are successful at achieving a Unit Standard(s) you are awarded the
unit standard.
An Assessor makes the judgement as to your skills and knowledge and
if you meet the criteria required by the Unit Standand. The skills and
knowledge that you have already got whilst working in industry will
be taken into account when being assessed for a unit standard/s. This
is called Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC).
Assistance
and support is available for those with learning difficulties.
EXITO subsidises
training that leads toward you achieving a qualification.
EXITO qualifications are nationally recognised and have been designed
by industry for the industry.
In addition to industry based unit standard training, as part of a qualification programme EXITO can also
subsidise and arrange training for:
- first aid
- fire training
- health and safety
- licences and endorsements
